The Australian Source Tagging Alliance (ASTA) was formed in 1998 to encourage more source tagging of products, allowing local retailers to unlock the potential of radio frequency electronic article surveillance (RF-EAS) equipment they had installed.
Source tagging involves the placement of RF-EAS tags onto products or their packaging at the point of manufacture. Products therefore arrive at stores already, and consistently, tagged.
Source tagging helps retailers sell more and lose less, it allows more open merchandising, reduces theft and lowers store operating costs.
